The spreadsheet, the default reflex
Almost every independent closer starts with a Google Sheet or Excel: one column per prospect, one per amount, one per status. It's free, it takes five minutes to set up, and with three or four prospects in progress, it's plenty.
The blind spots that show up with volume
The problem appears once the pipeline grows:
- No automatic follow-up reminders — nothing tells you a prospect has been waiting for a reply for three days. You have to remember it yourself, for every row.
- No real-time view of commissions — the spreadsheet shows what you typed, not what was actually collected this month. You have to recalculate by hand to know.

- Calculate commission automatically on every payment, not just at signature.
- Remind you of follow-ups due, without having to remember them yourself.
- Give a clear view of actual monthly income, not a rough estimate.

The real cost isn't the time spent typing — it's what slips through the cracks: a forgotten deal, a miscalculated commission, a missed follow-up that costs a closing. Taken individually, each mistake seems small. Add them up over a month, and they often represent several hundred euros of lost income.
